Adapted from Neil Gaiman's short stories.Gaze into the mirror alongside the wicked stepmother; peer out from under the bridge with a monstrous troll. In two tales both beautiful and macabre, Neil Gaiman dissects the disturbing reasons for Snow White's snow-white skin and blood-red lips, and replaces the Three Billy Goats Gruff with a feckless boy named Jack who carelessly trip-traps over the fateful bridge. And so, we invite our audience to journey through these two dark fairy tales with our players. We promise to lead you home at the end; however, we cannot promise to return you unchanged. But truthfully, would you wish it any other way? The plays will be presented on the afternoons of Friday, August 31 and Sunday, September 2, starting at 1.30 p.m. each day in Columbus Hall, Rooms C & D, as part of Chicon 7's extensive range of special events. The Gaiman Theatre is a co-production by Pintig Theatre (Chicago) and Socratic Theatre Collective (Toronto) in association with Tattle Tale Theatre (Dublin). The plays are directed by Ruth Pe Palileo and Liz Bragg. Featuring the talents of Basel Daoud, Oliver Jones, Aislinn Ní Uallacháin, Amanda O'Halloran and Gabriel Peelo. Stage Management by Amy Flood of Tattle Tale Theatre; Dramaturgy by Tanya Dean; Design by Teresita de la Torre. * Based on "Snow, Glass, Apples," © 1994 Neil Gaiman.
